Definition Essay - 938 Words

Definition Essay Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the â€Å"act of forgiving; state of being forgiven, disposition or willingness to forgive†. But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: â€Å"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. I believe that holds to be true. Only a humble human being can attain the quality to completely†¦show more content†¦I found that I forgave easier or not depending on severity of the circumstance and on the person whom I was forgiving or not. I believe it is easier to forgive an enemy than a person you love because a loved one are not supposed to hurt you in any way. I realized that those who I care more cause the most pain. When I was a child, every time I saw my mother crying and hurting from all the abuse induced by her husband, the person who was supposed to protect her, I ask God, why? I never received an answer. As the abuse continued and life went on, I was never able to forgive him for the suffering that he caused not only to my mother, but to me as well. I was carrying all the miseries from my childhood and taking out on the people who love and care for me. There was no closure for the pain and suffering. The only person that I saw comfort and security from was my father, a man who never allowed me to pity myself or blame myself for others actions. He was always there for me until my eighteenth birthday when he decided that I was â€Å"old enough to be on my own;† it was his own way to attempt making me independent. Everything became blurry at that point in my life. There was nowhere to turn except the only person who had the opportunities in her eighty years to master the meaning of true forgiveness: my grandmother, Consuelo, which her name literally means to console. Sql And The Standard Language For Relational Database...

SQL is utilized to interact with a database. Per ANSI (American National Standards Institute), it is the standard language for relational database management systems. SQL statements are utilized to perform tasks, for example, upgrade information on a database, or recover information from a database. â€Å"Some common relational database management systems that use SQL are: Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Ingres, etc. Although most database systems use SQL, most of them also have their own additional proprietary extensions that are usually only used on their system. However, the standard SQL commands such as Select, Insert, Update, Delete, Create, and Drop can be used to accomplish almost everything that one needs to do with a database† (SQL, n.d.). Numerous data description languages utilize an explanatory language structure to characterize segments and information sorts. Structured query language, in any case, utilizes an accumulation of basic verbs whose impact is to adjust the pattern of the database by including, changing, or erasing meanings of tables or different components. These statements can be openly blended with other SQL statements, making the DDL not a different language. The CREATE explanation in SQL makes a segment in a relational database management system. Scientists Take An Organic Approach To Improving Machines Free Essays

Naturally occurring chemicals are being used to develop state-of-the-art microprocessors capable of replacing much bigger computers, for dimes on the dollar! Researchers headed by a team of scientists from the Netherlands’ University of Groningen, Netherlands have developed a way to alter the chemical composition of silicon dioxide, which could mean a revolution in the manufacturing industry. The discovery is the latest in the budding field of organic electronics that are gaining acceptance due to their multifold superiority over electronics made from artificial substances. These electronics are being seen as the biggest developments in the field of electronics since the invention of micro chips. We will write a custom essay sample on Scientists Take An Organic Approach To Improving Machines or any similar topic only for you Order Now Researchers from the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials at the University enlisted a team of industry-insiders from the Philips Research Laboratories, The Dutch Polymer Institute of the Netherlands as well as the Enikolopov Institute of Synthetic Polymer Materials in Moscow Russia. Their combined efforts have materialized in the form of ‘self-assembled-monolayer field-effect transistor’ or SAMFET. SAMFET is the newest innovation in organic electronics, a newly emerging kind of electronic circuits which are constructed using only chemicals that occur naturally, such as silicon. Bottom-up organic electronics is a hot topic nowadays among electronic engineers and industrialists alike because, this technology allows the building of highly complicated circuits at a fraction of the cost of conventional circuits. Besides the economy, such circuits are also proving to be much more energy efficient than their predecessors. So the hype around the invention of this kind of ‘self-assembled-monolayer field-effect transistor’ or SAMFET is well-earned! Although the technique used to create SAMFET’s is complex, thankfully it is much more easily comprehendible. Researchers have basically developed a way to control the shape and proximity of atoms within a given sample of silicon dioxide. This allows them to mold molecules of the substance into a very compact and tightly packed formation. The molecular arrangements are organized in tiny layers sandwiched between another substance such as titanium. The ability to regularize the size and form of the molecules, together with the capability of cramming together millions of molecules more closely is the key element in this technology. This is so because the arrangement of the layers within a microprocessor is what allows complicated processes to be controlled by a microprocessor smaller than a matchbox! Electric pulses that pass through these layers are controlled with the circuits that are made of these SAMFET’s. Since the new innovation has allowed the packing of many more molecules into every layer of electronic circuits; many more commands to control and direct the currents can be programmed into an organic circuit as compared to a conventional electronic circuit made of synthetic materials. The developers explain that this innovation has been developed from the same liquid crystal technology that is used in television screens. LCD televisions are able to display better contrast and detail because of the fine crystals and their uniform distribution. In other words, they use the same technology as SAMFET’s albeit at a less complex scale. The newly developed silicon compound is sandwiched in layers of titanium for durability and strength. The titanium would normally restrict the flow of current but the inventors have come up with another ingenuity to overcome that problem. Contact points that link the different layers of silicon dioxide inside each microprocessor, are made of gold. Gold, one of the best conductors of electricity; allows small electric signals to pass between layers without much resistance against the current. Additionally due to the proximity and evenness of the molecules of silicon and other compounds within the layers, the smallest pulses of electricity can pass through it without any significant loss of energy. Experiments have been conducted to compare the performance of conventional microprocessors to those built using this newly developed technology. Inventors Simon Mathjiseen and Edsger Smits They say results indicate that their components can not only transfer electric currents through more elaborate formations; they can achieve this task with smaller currents because very little energy is wasted in the process. This allows them to build ever more complicated circuits. SAMFETS are structured to minimize resistance against electric currents, and since there are no moving parts, power is not wasted in transportation or heating. In turn, one microprocessor can perform much more elaborate tasks to help build multi-purpose machines that can carry out operations that would previously require many different machines. Simply put; a smaller, more efficient machine can now perform tasks that would have required an entire sequence of machines and robots. For manufacturers this means a ton of savings in their processes. This is so because at the moment even the most technologically advanced assembly lines contain many different machines, and materials have to be shifted between them many times before the final product is made. By combining many processes into a fewer number of machines, manufacturers can save money on the purchase and maintenance of equipment, and on the cost of human resource that is used to monitor and control these assembly lines. The developers of this strategy are confident they have discovered the building blocks to a new era of technology, one where the size†¦ of the circuit, does not matter! Instead, by increasing the density of molecules inside the layers that make up micro chips, more complex programs such as those used to control robots or entire assembly lines can be programmed into the same sized chip. Coupled with the energy efficiency, which means a lower cost of operating such electronics; these compact processors are being hailed as a much needed boost to the manufacturing and electronics industries. Under the current economic recession, many factories across the globe are looking to cut costs of production. SAMFET technology seems very promising in this regard because it allows manufacturers to use smaller, smarter electronic components. Not only can they save on human resource costs, but also on the cost of running these processors which act like the brains of the assembly line. All that remains to be seen now is how soon this technology can go into mass production. How to cite Scientists Take An Organic Approach To Improving Machines, Papers

Strategic Marketing Management for Zara - myassignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theStrategic Marketing Management for Zara. Answer: Zara is one of the leading fashion brands that have several branches at a global platform. The major issues faced by Zara in terms of strategic management in the Australian market include centralized distribution system, imitator of fashion designs along with limited marketing and advertising in Australia. Based on the identified issues in the Australian market, the suitable recommendations are furnished below: Fashion creator: Zara needs to be a fashion creator for the Australian market rather than being an imitator. The products of Zara are not exactly a trendsetter but are influenced by the fashion trends in other high-end fashion trends. Zara needs to consider the expectations and demands in terms of the fashion trend for the Australian market. Based on the present demand of the Australian market, Zara needs to design and develop fashionable clothing line and accessories for the target customers. Being a fashion creator rather than an imitator will provide a competitive advantage for Zara to survive in the competitive market (Fletcher Grose, 2012). Expanding the marketing and advertising techniques: Zara implements limited marketing and advertising strategy for the Australian market that eventually limits the power of the brand to reach out to the customers. Therefore, Zara needs to expand their advertising and marketing technique in order to reach out to the potential customers of the Australian market. For example, Zara can localize their probable customers and advertise their products by brochures, pamphlets, billboards along with the implementation of digital marketing. This will help Zara to reach out the probable customers in a particular locality, develop products, accessories, and price accordingly (Wilkie Moore, 2012). Implementing direct distribution channel: Zara needs to implement direct distribution channel for the Australian market. This will provide an opportunity for Zara to have control over all the outlets in the country. Direct control over all the outlets in the Australian market will also provide an opportunity for Zara to maintain a consistency in terms of the service provided. Additionally, the direct distribution will allow the company to develop a positive relationship with the customers thereby, developing the customer loyalty. Moreover, direct distribution by Zara will provide an opportunity for the company to obtain direct feedback from the customers and use them for further improvement. Eliminating the role of intermediaries will also lead to lower distribution costs (Qiang et al., 2013). Pricing strategy: Zara mostly has a high price for the products in terms of the clothing and accessories that make it difficult for all the customers to afford the products. In this competitive market, Zara needs to have a broader approach for the customers such as having a moderate pricing strategy (Hinterhuber Liozu, 2012). Need to increase the reach to customers: Zara needs to reach out to the target customers effectively by developing their marketing and advertising techniques. This will allow Zara to reach out to the far-out customers in the Australian market. This can be done by initiating a blog, encouraging the customer reviews, writing a survey or poll and encouraging people to join the email list of the company (Bhanot, 2012). References Bhanot, S. Free Essays on Youve Got Mail Free Essays on Youve Got Mail â€Å"You’ve got mail† There is a distinct difference between having an automated voice stating, â€Å"you’ve got mail† with all the warmth of an undertaker, and physically opening an old fashioned metal and possibly rusty box to find a true piece of art. Art that is becoming extinct even as I am writing this, an art form that is warm, personal and can mean as much to some people as a priceless Rembrandt can mean to a collector. The hand written letter gives a warm fuzzy feeling, while E-mail seems to me rather cold and impersonal. Writing letters by hand is quickly becoming a lost art form practiced by few. This art form is being destroyed by the time saving, impersonal, sterile world of e-mail Few things in the world today can make someone feel better than getting a hand written letter in the mail. Most of the envelopes in my mailbox are bills or junk mail. When receiving a letter from one of my grandparents in the mailbox it makes me feel extraordinary to know that they care enough to invest the time and effort in communicating with me. Most of the e-mails I have received are just a bunch of mass communication garbage. They have been forwarded to hundreds of people sent with little thought and usually no emotion. The chances of getting a personal e-mail are rare. When I do receive a letter from my grandparents, it is easy to tell while holding the envelope in my hands whether it is a long letter or a quick note to say â€Å"Hello†. There is always a decision to make after receiving a treasure like this in the mail. Should the letter just be torn open hastily or should it be carefully opened so as not to damage the precious contents, savoring each and every second of the unveiling. The act of opening an e-mail is sterile and boring at best. There is no excitement, no anticipation just point, click, and the words appear on the monitor in front of me with little thought or fanfare The act of reading a hand written letter is an ev...

Colonial New York Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Colonial New York - Essay Example The population did contribute to the growth of New York into a big city with surrounding urban areas. The colonial masters did focus on settling in areas having a sea outlet. These areas were excellent sites for trading with external worlds and communication. They could also ease the transportation methods via water. Areas that were far from the sea exposure did remain far behind in terms of development. Whereas the East New York had a harbor from the East River, the western New York did remain less occupied. The western New York did not offer a good site for the British colonialists as they gather the raw materials for production of goods and services in their countries. Most of the residents of these areas remained enslaved. Slave trade remained the main economic activity of the people. It was the cornerstone of New York economy1. The environmental areas did not favor the growth of urban centers. In 1730, census, about 97% of the total population did reside in rural areas. The poor people did reside in back alleys and the streets. However, with the eruption of Industrial revolution, there was a rapid transformation of the living standards of people. There was a sudden urge to construct industries in a bid to create employment. Transportation and communication facilities also did expand2. During the colonial times, there were poor transport and communication facilities that could enhance movement from one place to another. Roads and railways were a historical issue. Failure to have these facilities did contribute immensely to lack of development in New York. Furthermore, it did translate to a fact that these areas were under exploited in terms of natural resources and raw materials for industrial utility. Development is seen in the area after the industrial revolution when roads, railways, telephones and telegraph networks are available. Poor technology did exhibit the colonial session. Electricity had not yet disseminated
